Dos and Dont’s of ADs Placement

advertisement

Sometimes, advertisers wish to display their ads on a specific location of the webpage (like the top right corner of the screen). But it’s up to the publishers to give advertisers the ad unit where they can place the ads. Ad placements are the specific group of ad units that are made by the publisher. As per the will of the ad placer, the entire website, or just the part of it can be the place for ad placement.

When the publisher is using platforms like AdSense, their placements are automatically available to the advertisers. But if the publisher defines certain ad units for the ad placement using custom channels, advertisers can only use publisher-defined ad placements. Meaning, the ads will appear only on the specific ad units given by the publishers. Publishers can create ad placement by signing in to AdSense. We can learn about it some other day. Today, let’s know the Dos and Don’t for ad placement.

Best Practices for Ad Placement

When a publisher is detected to misrepresent the ad placement, it might result in penalties. Based on the severity of the misrepresentation, there might be cases when the publisher loses the payments or their AdSense account. So it’s important that you adopt healthy practices for ad placement.

Know your users: It’s necessary to ensure that the content of your ads is organized in a way that is appreciated by the user. Look for the most active locations on your web pages, how often the users visit a page, the type of popular content, and any navigation issues. As you find answers to these questions, you can improve your website and then decide locations for ad placements.

Do not suppress your content: Yes we understand that Ads are as important as content for you. But users visit your website to check the content and at the same time might view or click a few ads on page. This means content should always come first. If your user does not find anything that is relevant as soon as your web page opens, they will leave the page immediately. So it’s never ideal to place large ads that hide your content.

Ads should be distinctive: Nowadays, people are creatively integrating ads within their web content. But the users shouldn’t be confused between ads and web content. It’s important that the ads have a distinctive look and feel, color palette, should have borderlines, and anything different from the content. Otherwise, Google might block such ads from appearing.

Run tests: You can Google plenty of ideas that tell about the best placement for the ad. However, implementing them blindly isn’t a good idea. The best location mostly depends upon the purpose, looks, and design of your website. So it’s always better to run the test for ad units before you choose the ad type, format, and placement.

What to avoid during ad Placement?

Too many ads above the fold

Auto paying video ads

Excessive pagination

Avoid interstitial ads on large screen devices

Summing up,

A good ad placement practice will improve your click-through rate, conversation rate, and eventually your income. Negative practices can block your account. Hope these tips were helpful for you.
